This could be make-or-break season for Yi

As you read last week, Rod Thorn has pretty much handed the starting power forward job back to Yi Jianlian. That probably won't be a popular move at the Meadowlands, but it's the way the Nets are going. What other options do they have? For the Nets fans who remain skeptical that Yi can be the star player he's been projected to be, good news came from Brook Lopez on Monday, when the young center said he's seen Yi work out and was impressed. Lopez noted that Yi's post game looked better than it did during the season and that he also appeared stronger. Yesterday, we met with Yi for the first time in the offseason and he said he's been working hard to come back strong next season. He recently returned to Jersey after about a month working out in L.A. and Vegas, where he took part in a strength and skills camp. Upper body strength and his interior game were his two biggest priorities and so far he's gained about four or five pounds since the season ended. He'll be in New Jersey for about the next 10 ...
