Thome given night off vs. Mariners

With his average at .218, veteran designated hitter Jim Thome was given the night off on Saturday against the Mariners by manager Ozzie Guillen. Thomas has seven homers and 21 RBIs, but he's not making enough contact. [link]

All the pre-season fears about the M's are coming true. No offense, bad defense, and struggling pen. Throw in the fact that King Felix hasn't turned that magical corner to domination and it's been a frustrating season...just look at the attendance figures. Oh, and forget about the post-season, the window of opportunity is gone with the Angels getting Lackey back soon.
