Tigers place Inge on disabled list

The Tigers placed versatile veteran Brandon Inge on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday, retroactive to Monday, with a pulled left oblique muscle.

DETROIT -- Less than 24 hours ago, Brandon Inge was expected to start at catcher today against St. Louis. This afternoon, his pulled oblique has him on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 23. The Tigers called up catcher Dane Sardinha from Toledo today to take his spot. Sardinha batted .206 with six home runs and 16 RBIs in 48 games with the Mud Hens.Inge to DL, Sardinha purchased
