Tigers put Inge on 15-day DL

 
Brandon Inge was put on the 15-day disabled list by the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday because of a pulled oblique muscle. The move to disabled to catcher and designated hitter was retroactive to Monday. Detroit purchased the contract of catcher Dane Sardinha from Triple-A Toledo to replace Inge on the roster. [link]

DETROIT -- Less than 24 hours ago, Brandon Inge was expected to start at catcher today against St. Louis. This afternoon, his pulled oblique has him on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 23. The Tigers called up catcher Dane Sardinha from Toledo today to take his spot. Sardinha batted .206 with six home runs and 16 RBIs in 48 games with the Mud Hens.
