Tim Tebow's Heisman Trophy Loss Is Great News for the Florida Gators

Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Sam Bradford became the fifth player in the program’s history to win the Heisman Trophy. He joined former Sooner Jason White as the only other quarterback to win the award for Oklahoma.   Texas Longhorns quarterback Colt McCoy came in second in the voting. Florida Gators quarterback and last year’s winner, Tim Tebow, had the most first place votes, but finished third in the voting.   Bradford became the second sophomore to win the award in the last two years. A sophomore had never won the award before last season until Tebow won it as a sophomore.   However, Bradford didn’t exactly run away with the Heisman.   He beat out McCoy by just 86 points, which was the closest the voting has been since 2001. He also became just the third player to win the award without having the most first place votes.
