Tim Wakefield Less Than Stellar in Milestone Start

Tim Wakefield took the mound tonight in his 500th career start with the Boston Red Sox. They faced the Texas Rangers Saturday night, but the knuckle-baller never got out of the second inning after allowing an embarrassing seven runs. The rest of the game was pretty much over for the Red Sox. The Rangers continued to tack on runs throughout the game, putting a win out of reach. The game ended with Red Sox 8, Rangers 15. MVP candidate Dustin Pedroia went 0-3. The BoSox were unable to take advantage of the fact that the Rays lost again to Toronto, leaving the gap between the two teams at 2.5 games. Wakefield is now 8-10 on the season.   (link)
