Troy Brown pays Jets a visit

 
WR/PR Troy Brown, one of the most beloved players in Patriots history, is visiting the Jets today, according to the Boston Globe. This was inevitable, especially with the Patriots telling Brown recently that he no longer fits in their plans. Eric Mangini is a true admirer of Brown, 36, who played 15 seasons with the Patriots. Actually, there was a Jets-Brown flirtation two years ago, when Mangini was first hired by the Jets. Recently, Brown indicated that he had no desire to play for a team on the Patriots’ schedule, but he evidently is having some second thoughts about that. Maybe this is his way of tweaking the Patriots. Maybe this is Mangini’s way of tweaking the Patriots. Why is there always tweaking going on when these two teams are mentioned in the same story? Brown, coming off knee surgery, was limited to only one game last season. He’s a strong locker-room guy, but his best days on the field are long behind him.
