I've read plenty of message boards and people on Yahoo Answers stating that Steve Nash has been the best point guard in the history of the Phoenix Suns. I'm going to have to disagree on that.
In fact, there have been two other point guards to play for the Suns over the past few years that are still active on different teams now that could be considered, but don't have the necessary longevity of playing for the Suns—Stephon Marbury and Jason Kidd.
Just like Nash, they got to the playoffs, but didn't do much in them. Neither Nash, Kidd, or Marbury have led the Suns to the Finals.
So, who is the best point guard to play on the Phoenix Suns? That belongs to Kevin Johnson. He is everything that Nash isn't. He plays defense, he can score, he's athletic, he could shoot, he could distribute the ball, and he got the Suns to the NBA Finals with Charles Barkley and Dan Majerle against the Chicago Bulls.
Johnson only had three years averaging under double figures in points. Steve Nash has gone four ...
