Twins recall ace Liriano, expected to start Sunday

The Minnesota Twins recalled left-hander Francisco Liriano on Friday, and he's expected to make his first start after missing all of last season because of elbow surgery Sunday against the Kansas City Royals. Liriano was 12-3 with a 2.16 ERA as a rookie in 2006. He started 16 games and appeared in 12 others, striking out 144 in 121 innings and holding opposing hitters to a .205 average. But he was shut down after a Sept. 13 start against Oakland when he left after two innings. [link]
