The mystery of Lawrence Tynes’ knee injury should be cleared up tomorrow, when the injured kicker undergoes surgery to figure out what exactly is wrong with his left knee.
Two sources just confirmed a report from earlier that Tynes is scheduled for what is being called “exploratory” surgery. The hope is that the surgery will determine exactly how long Tynes will be out. Nothing, the sources said, has been ruled out at this point, including the possibility that the kicker could be lost for the season.
Clearly, though, that’s not what the Giants are expecting. Tom Coughlin had said there was a possibility Tynes would be back this week, though that obviously didn’t happen. And when Josh Huston was signed to kick in the Browns game on Monday, even he said he was just keeping a seat warm until Tynes got back.
But the injury continued to linger, so now the Giants want to find out exactly what the problem is.
