UConn adds another new face

UConn continues to bring new faces into its Big East program. The Huskies just got a fifth committment for the Class of 2009 today when 6-11 Ater Majok, who is from Sudan and played in Australia, committed. Majok chose the Huskies over Kentucky. Others in the class include McDonald’s All-American point guard Kemba Walker of Rice, forward Nate Miles from Lenoir Paterson School (N.C.), guard Scottie Haralson from Province HS (Jackson, Miss.), and 7-1 Charles Okwandu from Harcum College (Pa.). According to the Hartford Courant, with 7-3 Hasheem Thabeet opting to return for his junior year, UConn is currently one player over the scholarship limit. *** The Juice All-Stars (Lincoln guard Vincent Council, 16) won the 17-and-under gold division of the Hoop Group’s Providence Jam Fest, defeating the Bingo-All Stars in the finals. New Heights 16’s, playing up, won the silver bracket while the Playaz won the 16-and-under title. [link]
