Vaughan downs Cook in playoff to win Open

Bruce Vaughan has won the Senior British Open after holing a 20-foot putt to beat John Cook in a playoff. Cook squandered a three-stroke lead after 10 holes and went to the 72nd still leading Vaughan by one on Sunday. But Cook fired his tee shot into the rough and he made a bogey 5 to finish with an even par round of 71. Vaughan made a 70 and they returned to the 18th tee after 6-under scores of 278 for a sudden death playoff. Vaughan holed his putt and Cook missed his from 12 feet. (link)
