Vikings News: Derrick Pope Signed by Minnesota

 
The recent addition of Derrick Pope only strengthens the already strong line backing corps of the Minnesota Vikings. Terms were not disclosed, but the deal is one year in length. While Pope only started nine games last year, he will be a great asset for Minnesota on special teams. As I said before, the Vikings have a very strong line backing corps. Pope will be the fourth on the depth chart, behind Ben Leber, E.J. Henderson, and Chad Greenway. Because of Minnesota's line backing strength, Pope will be almost entirely limited to special teams. Pope knew this when he said: “That’s one of the biggest keys for me is special teams...That’s how I’ve survived in this league, off special teams.” Pope had 64 tackles last year, along with two interceptions. He also knows what a great defense he will be joining in Minnesota: “Linebackers like myself dream about playing with guys like them, two great defensive linemen right in front of you,” On a totally ...
