The Virginia Tech Hokies came out and punched the Boston College Eagles right in the mouth, and the Eagles never recovered. The Hokies got off to a quick 14-0 lead, on the quick moving legs of Tyrod Taylor, who had two rushing touchdowns.
Tech was close to going up by three scores in the first half until a pass from Taylor was tipped and intercepted. The defense allowed a big play on the drive, but it turned into a turnover for BC as Victor "Macho" Harris forced a fumble, and Cam Martin recovered it in the endzone.
However, the Eagles got on the board thanks to a long screen pass from Dominique Davis to Montel Harris that setup the touchdown pass Davis would later throw to Rich Gunnell.
Davis didn't have a very good day, completing 17 of 43 passes for 263 yards. Most of his passing yards came on two plays, but he did throw a touchdown pass. However, he threw two picks to a stingy Hokie defense and couldn't make enough plays down the stretch to keep his team in it.
