On the bright side, it’s already late afternoon in Sweden and Slovakia. So Mats and Marian should be wrapping up things soon.
But then, those who should know insist that Sundin hasn’t even made up his mind whether he wants to play next season - though it seems abundantly clear that he doesn’t want to play for Vancouver or else he would have gobbled up the Canucks’ insane, two-year, $20-million offer by now.
The question is whether the Rangers will wait for Sundin to make a decision or make a move themselves to either spend all of Jim Dolan’s available money for the forseeable future by signing Hossa or by going economical and re-signing Jaromir Jagr or signing Markus Naslund.
With a Daily News Live appearance at 5 p.m. and a youth hockey meeting to follow, I’m rooting for the Rangers to sign the first forward who bats his eyes at them. I understand if you have a bigger picture in mind.
