Ya gotta love Donnie Walsh’s honesty. When asked today about his best move to date as Knicks president, Walsh hesitated for a moment and replied: “I haven’t accomplished anything yet…except form a plan.”
Walsh and Mike D’Antoni met with the media today and Walsh reiterated that his goal is to be under the salary cap in two years (i.e. the summer when LeBron and Wade become free agents). D’Antoni doesn’t expect first-round pick Danilo Gallinari to be ready until the end of October, which, roughly translated, means that Gallinari will be a non-factor all year.
Walsh also addressed Stephon Marbury’s status by saying that he doesn’t remember ever negotiating a buyout with a player when he ran the Pacers. In fact, Walsh said that he could not imagine going to his owner and asking his boss to eat a contract.
