Was that Yankees-Red Sox game the slowest game ever?

 
I have a confession to make. While I usually find Yankees-Red Sox games compelling viewing, I was getting a little, well, bored during last night’s loss. These games usually have fans on their edge of their seats - but last night was more of a battle to keep from falling asleep. It was an extremely slow-paced, dismal game. And to add to the misery, Jose Molina, who has been one of the few bright spots for the Yankees this season, got hurt during the game, so that meant Jorge Posada had to go in as catcher last night even though he couldn’t throw. And Joba Chamberlain left the Yankee team last night because his father collapsed. The bad news just keeps on coming, doesn’t it? Where to begin in recounting last night’s miserable loss? Let’s start with Phil Hughes. He was terrible. How many pitches did he throw in that first inning - 79? 116? It got the game off to such a slow start, that three hours had passed before the top of the sixth inning. Unbelievable. Then ... [link]
