Carl Pavano is on a two-game winning streak.
Sure, those wins came 502 days apart, but they’re wins nonetheless.
Pavano gave up three runs over five innings against the Orioles, helping the Yankees to a win and giving them a chance to sweep the series on Sunday.
“It’s amazing; this is what I get paid to do and this is what I work for,” Pavano said. “This is all I really know, to go out there every fifth day and do my job.”
Now, that quote might be a little much, given that Pavano’s six wins have cost the Yankees more than $6 million each. Going out there every five days hasn’t exactly been Pavano’s routine with the Yankees, either, but if he can do it over the next five weeks and help the Yankees to the postseason, I think a lot of the last three-plus years will be forgiven.
Consider this: Carl Pavano has more wins than Phil Hughes and Ian Kennedy combined. Just like we all figured it would go back in spring training, right?
