What's up with the standing O for Junior?

 
Other than Andy Pettitte’s great pitching performance, yesterday’s Yankee win was noteworthy for two things - Kerosene Kyle Farnsworth hurting his hand after grabbing for a ball, and Stadium fans giving Ken Griffey Jr. two ovations. As for Kyle, Michael Kay was giving him a hard time about trying to field the ball with his bare hand, because it’s not what you’re supposed to do. I agreed with David Cone and John Flaherty saying that it was instinctive to do that, so I can’t blame Farnsworth for that. What I did think was bad, though, was him using this same hand to wave the trainer in. Dude, you just hurt your hand - use your glove hand for the waving! Onto Junior. I’m not sure how I feel about Yankee fans giving Griffey such love at the Stadium yesterday, between cheering for the video tribute, and applauding his 601th home run.
