It didn’t take long for the Royals to break out of their 18-inning scoreless streak against the White Sox. A Paul Konerko miscue and a Jose Guillen seeing eye single had the Royals on the board and Lance Broadway sweating it out. But the newest member of the Sox starting five knuckled down.
After a shaky second inning Broadway cruised all the way into the sixth when he left the game with one out and none on. An outing that started with ominous signs ended with smiles and high-fives. At least for this week the White Sox fifth starter question has been answered.
Lance Broadway, in his second major league start, picked up his second major league victory. He didn’t dominate but he looked every bit the major league pitcher. He had the Royals off balance and they had a tough time squaring up his moving fastball. Broadway even pitched over an Orlando Cabrera error in the second.
Cabrera continues to bring his fool’s gold ...
