White Sox @ Indians: Danks Powers White Sox to First Win of Season

 
The Chicago White Sox salvaged the final game of the season-opening three game set in Cleveland behind a strong outing by left-hander John Danks. Danks didn't allow a hit until the sixth inning, when Casey Blake led off the inning with a single.  He allowed one run on two hits in 6.2 inning. Juan Uribe and Joe Crede provided all the offense Chicago would need with solo homers in the sixth and eighth innings, respectively.  Crede's blast came after Cleveland tied the game at one in the seventh when Travis Hafner drew a walk, and Ryan Garko doubled over right-fielder Jermaine Dye's head. The win for the White Sox prevented a season-opening sweep and gives the club positive momentum as they head to Detroit for a three-game set starting tomorrow afternoon. Bobby Jenks retired the side in order to record his first save of 2008, after saving 40 one year ago.
