Why do you build me up, Mets?

 
Daily News Met beat writer Adam Rubin reports that the Mets are inviting fans to vote on what should be the eighth-inning singalong song. Here are the choices, which include current singalong song “Sweet Caroline”: Brown Eyed Girl, Van Morrison Build Me Up Buttercup, The Foundations I Love Rock ‘N Roll, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts I’m a Believer, The Monkees Land of 1000 Dances, Wilson Pickett Livin’ on a Prayer, Bon Jovi Movin’ Out, Billy Joel Sweet Caroline, Neil Diamond I’ll Be There For You, The Rembrandts Waitin’ On A Sunny Day, Bruce Springsteen Now I’m all for replacing “Sweet Caroline,” since the Red Sox used it first and the Mets should come up with their own song. And while I don’t think this is the greatest list, it does include one of my favorite songs, “Build Me Up Buttercup.” I was all set to vote for it when I started thinking about a stadium full of Met fans trying to rally our team with: Why do you build me ...
