Yes, USC Trojan fans, it has happened again. Your team stumbled in Pac 10 conference play after yet again being dubbed the best team in college football. Yet somehow you feel entitled to some sort of national championship every year.
Last year, Stanford rolled into Los Angeles and took down your mighty Trojans, despite being a 41 point underdog. The year before that, all your beloved Trojans needed to do was beat lowly cross-town rival UCLA to secure a bid in the BCS championship game.
However, they would lose that game 13-9 and settle for yet another berth in the Rose Bowl.
How about back in 2003? USC lost in triple overtime to a then 2-3 California team. USC would somehow go on to claim the AP national championship that year.
This year, USC fans and Pete Carroll were lobbying for the same situation that took place roughly five years ago.
USC lost their Pac 10 opener to the 1-2 Beavers of Oregon State 27-21. They would then go on to win their final nine regular season games, ...
