With the unexpected play of Chicago Bears quarterback Kyle Orton, will he too get a contract extension soon?
First, I have to start by looking at the Packers locking up QB Aaron Rodgers through 2014 with a six year $65 million deal with $20 million guaranteed. It is a similar move the Dallas Cowboys did in 2007 signing QB Tony Romo to a six year $67.5 million contract with $30 million guaranteed only half way through his first full season as a starter. Ok, so with that said lets take a look at the numbers when the contracts were signed.
Aaron Rodgers has led his team to a record of 4-3. Rodgers entered into his 4th season in the NFL. He has thrown for 1,668 yards, 12 touchdowns and four interceptions. Rodgers has a QB rating of 98.8. Some of the players he has around him include Ryan Grant, Donald Driver, and Greg Jennings.
That brings up this question; Is four wins as a starter this season worth $65 million? Packers fans will probably say yes and keep saying " Brett who?", but I ...
