Big baseball day, with the Yankees-Red Sox doubleheader and the Mets’ final game of the season - and the last game at Shea.
Hey, Squawker Jon, why are the Mets doing their farewell to Shea ceremony after today’s game, and not before? Isn’t that fraught with peril? What if the Mets lose to Florida, like they did last year, and have that ceremony afterwards? That won’t exactly be a happy occasion, will it? Imagine the boos!
Speaking of boos, I wonder if the Met “fans” who booed Johan Santana on Opening Day have rethought their assessment of the pitcher. Sheesh.
One pitcher Yankee fans have reassessed this year is Mike Mussina. Who could have predicted after last year, when he got knocked out of the rotation, that he would be going for 20 games this season? And I hope he gets it, for the first time ever. I’ve really been liking Moose this year. It’s not just that he’s been pitching so well - it’s that he’s kept the dopey comments ...
