Veteran defensive end Renaldo Wynn was in for a tryout with the Giants yesterday, and in a move that could signal Wynn’s signing is imminent, they cut a defensive end, too.
The 33-year-old Wynn, who had 3.5 sacks in 12 games with the Saints last season, is an 11-year veteran who has also played with the Redskins and Tom Coughlin’s Jacksonville Jaguars. He visited on the same day the Giants cut defensive end Antonio Reynolds, an undrafted free agent out of Tennessee.
Wynn, who battled a toe injury late last season, is a 6-3, 296-pounder who can play a little defensive tackle too (and obviously the Giants like that kind of flexibility). He was a first-round pick of Coughlin’s Jaguars back in 1997.
With Reynolds gone, the Giants now have 79 signed players on their active roster.
