Yanks respond to Girardi and Yammering Hank
The Yankees had a pretty good win last night. Too bad I was too ill (I have a cold) to enjoy most of it. I took some medicine and ended up falling asleep during the game. I woke up during the postgame to see an extremely happy Joe Girardi talking to the press. From the look on his face, I thought Mike Mussina had pitched a no-hitter or something!
Anyhow, Girardi had his first closed-door meeting before last night’s game, after Yammering Hank Steinbrenner criticized the Yanks.
The News’ Bill Madden called Yammering Hank Steinbrenner yesterday to follow up on his slamming the team. Hank had this to say, among other things:
I know we’re gonna come on at some point in this season, but right now, other than (Chien-Ming) Wang, (Mariano) Rivera, (Derek) Jeter, (Hideki) Matsui, (Johnny) Damon and (Mike) Mussina, after I got on him a little, we’re not doing jack (bleep).
Aha! He’s taking credit for Mussina’s resurgence. Heck, I would, too, if I were him. I ...
