Yanks to do battle with Texas heat

 
Welcome to Texas. Why anybody would live here, I have no idea. First, it’s the home of the Cowboys, the world’s most reviled football team. Second, it’s 102 degrees here today - that’s not a misprint - which is simply hotter than it should be anywhere. The craziest part? Tomorrow is supposed to be even hotter. But here we are, ready for four games between the Yankees and Rangers. This series is a big opportunity for the Yanks to pick up some ground in the playoff race. With Joba Chamberlain, Andy Pettitte, Sidney Ponson and Mike Mussina pitching the four games here, the Yankees have their top three starters lined up to face the impressive Rangers lineup. Anything less than three out of four would be a disappointment for the Yankees, who head to Anaheim this weekend for three more games against the Angels. After Vicente Padilla tonight, Texas is throwing out the legendary Matt Harrison, Tommy Hunter and Scott Feldman the next three nights. A few notes: Xavier ... (link)
