Zach Randolph to Stay with Knicks and Jerome James Still Warming the Bench

The New York Knicks have reportedly passed on a deal that would have sent Power Forward/Center, Zach Randolph to the Memphis Grizzlies for Marko Jaric and Darko Milicic.   Knicks General Manager, Donnie Walsh, refused to add a first-round pick to the deal.   Wow, what a team Mike D'Antoni would have had, that is, if he could have gotten his hands on two more European players.   Both Milicic and Jaric have arguably not played up to their potential, but they could have blossomed under D’Antoni’s run-and-gun system.   Randolph averaged 17.6 points and 10.3 rebounds per game last season, but he’s not exactly the kind of player his numbers make him out to be.   In addition, when you look at what the Knicks are going to pay him in the next three years, you might get a stomach ache: $14.6 this coming season, $16 million next season, and $17.3 million in 2010-11 – the last year of his contract.   Overall, the total is $48 million. ...
