Nate Robinson just got his summer league jersey
retired. Seriously. Here it is, hanging on a random
concrete wall. "How does it feel?" My favorite detail is the fire alarm just below the jersey.
A good analysis of how Darius Miles' attempted
comeback may affect the Blazers' cap room.
I'm feeling the need for some perspective on
this news. That's what places like this are for,
so here we go. Obviously this is devastating news. Blazer fans were like kids who had been promised a Ferrari for their sixteenth birthday. ...
Amongst all the coverage of Greg Oden's surgery
yesterday the piece you couldn't miss was the human
one. Not the medical coverage, not the basketball analysis, but Kevin Pritchard saying that both Greg and his mom were apologizing while being ...
Monty Williams Interview March 29, 2008 "[My health]
is a miracle. I mean, that's the only way
I can explain it." ~ Monty Williams Prior to Saturday Night's tipoff between the Blazers and Bobcats, I had the opportunity to sit down ...
As with any basketball movie review, it is
important to note that " Gunnin' For That #1
Spot " is not " Hoop Dreams ." It doesn't try to be. But the temptation to compare any movie focused on the lives and times of high school basketball prospects to that seminal work is overwhelming. Such is the Jordanesque shadow that "Hoop Dreams" casts. Do "Gunnin'" justice and ...
Great win for the Blazers and Dave over
at Blazer's Edge gives us the lowdown on how
the Blazers pulled out the double OT win.
As I’ve read the comments in various posts
a recurring theme has come up, which can be
summarized thusly: “We have some good, young, talented players with potential we’re not completely sure of yet. The ...
Ben Golliver of Blazer's Edge with an insightful,
ultra-detailed breakdown of how the Trail Blazers, lead by
GM Kevin Pritchard, landed Jerryd Bayless on draft night. Part of the answer? They duped the Bobcats into taking D.J. Augustin. The Kings being "functionally retarded" also helped Portland's cause.
After yesterday's hubbub I thought it might be
productive to sit down and talk with the vote-casting
man himself, so I fired off a few questions to Toronto Raptors' analyst Chuck Swirsky. He was nice enough to respond. Here is the text. ...
This was really kind of a Stink-a-thon from
both sides tonight. Neither side shot over 39% yet
somehow neither team played what you'd call sterling defense. There was a fair amount of one-on-one ball unless the ball-handlers found gaping lanes to pass through (which happened a fair amount). The two stars--Durant and Roy--had good games but both shot poorly and neither one really dominated.
As you all know, the Blazers pulled the
trigger on a deal yesterday, sending the terminally-amusing and
hard-nosed Taurean Green to Denver for guard Von Wafer. Here are Wafer's career stats if you need them. Having watched him throughout Summer League this past year I can tell you a couple of things: 1. He's got an average body and his athleticism is decent but probably not his main ...
Great NBA draft article by Dave over at
Blazer's Edge. "There’s a bunch of talk going on
about the draft and relative weights player-to-player and year-to-year. It’s fascinating, and much appreciated too! The diversity of opinion and spirited debate make for interesting reading, especially since we’ve got people not just on both ends of a spectrum, but on most points in between."

A handy guide to recognizing Jerryd Bayless' emotions.
Introduction One of the best parts of spending
a week in Las Vegas covering Summer League was
the chance to talk to other people who either cover or are a part of the NBA. One of the hot topics of the week was the credentialing of ...

6th Man of the Year Award. Voting happened all
over the SBN NBA sites the last few days and now the results are tabulated. And the winner in a landslide was...Joey Crawford. ...

Great Googley-Moogley! Boxscore Wow. What a game. The
way we played as a team tonight was amazing.
There were a ton of individual imperfections on display but somehow when you shuffled us all together it was more than enough to win ...
Ah yes...the sweet taste of victory. Mmmmm...victory... (drool)
Boxscore Team Observations The absolutely outstanding feature of this
game was our rebounding. We destroyed them by 15 overall, more than doubling their offensive ...
Boxscore Well, we ended up losing handily tonight.
Figuring out why isn't exactly rocket science. From an
overall perspective you're going to have a really hard time staying close in a game when you can't win a single quarter. We ...
