He was not highly recruited out of high
school, and almost immediately after offering his commitment to
Ohio State the comparisons started to roll in. Now that his redshirt season has come and past, it is time for Antonio Henton to throw his hat into the ring for the job as the starter at the quarterback position and see if those comparisons to Troy Smith are on the mark.
Everyone who had a pulse and watched college
football last season was well aware of the exploits
of Ted Ginn Jr. and Anthony Gonzalez. Now, with the duo off to the NFL one year early, the Buckeyes are forced to soldier on without them.
Five recently graduated Ohio State football players were
taken on day two of the 2007 NFL Draft,
some sooner and some later than many may have predicted. Troy Smith and Antonio Pittman were among those sliding, while Jay Richardson and Roy Hall rose up the charts, and Doug Datish brought up the rear.
Two players who formerly donned the scarlet and
gray are now NFL first-round draft picks. Wideouts Ted
Ginn Jr. and Anthony Gonzalez were both taken in the first 32 picks, with Ginn surprisingly going to Miami with the No. 9 overall pick and Gonzalez closing out the first round when he was taken by Indianapolis. Updated at 11:18 p.m.
