I think starting pitching is their greatest weakness
right now and if they want to be successful,
they a couple more quality veteran arms to allow Hughes and Kennedy time to grow.
From "Old Reliable" to "Wait Till Next Year,"
author provides some interesting derivations for baseball names.

Here’s a 25-fact roster for you.
1. LOVE THE EAST: In the World Series, the Phils have played the Red Sox in 1915, the Yankees in 1950, the Orioles in 1983 and the Blue Jays in 1993. If they face the Rays this season, they can call “Bingo!” BTW: They’ve lost to all the AL East ...

Author takes some incredible memories from his book.
It's amazing what people remember, even from as long
ago as the 50s.
Author gives an interesting look into the Arizona
Fall League. Like all minor leagues, it functions as
a feeder for the majors, thus improving the quality baseball played at the majors.
Great notes as always from Bill Chuck filled
with interesting info. The Rays may have a great
home record with big crowds at the Trop but I would think in this series there will be plenty of Sox fans in the house as well. I am really interested to see what the Tampa crowd will be like this series.
I am really surprised that as a former
player, Pags is quick to defend Manny. I agree
with him that Manny certainly won't be the first or the last player not to give 100% every time he steps on the diamond, but the crap he pulled in Boston is went far beyond the typical actions of today's athlete.
Interesting perspective on Dice K. I agree there
are some advantages to Dice K's approach but he
better be careful. You asking for trouble if you become to careful working to batters. He could face problems with walks which could lead to the big inning. Also the Sox bullpen is not a strength.
The Dodgers are a completely different team than
they were for most of the regular season. Just
adding Manny is huge, but getting back Furcal too makes a huge difference.
Amazing what some people do after baseball. Nowadays,
players don't need to work, but in Turley's day,
everyone had to get a job and work for a long time before they could retire for good.

It's going to be a tough series no
matter what, but it's hard to discount the Red
Sox's Experience even with how well the teams have played this year. The Rays were 8-7 against the Sox this season and these two teams were the two best home-teams in the league.
Good argument based on the modern line of
thinking regarding strikeouts and statistics in general.

Don’t look now traditionalists, but the Rays are winning using the dreaded…bullpen by committee!
<pause for resuscitation>
So perhaps the Rays aren’t completely abandoning the bullpen slotting system that has formed beyond stadium walls over the past two decades, but they are ...

It's going to be extremely close. Scout gives
them a slight edge, but these things are very
difficult to predict.
A game at Fenway is a unique experience.
When it's the playoffs, it's even more spectacular. When
you're Bill Chuck of DugoutCentral.com, who knows what will happen?
If you missed Bill Simmons column from ESPN Page 2 on Thursday , I recommend you take some time and read his perspective on Manny Ramirez.
When Manny was traded from Boston you would think he was the anti-Christ in dreadlocks. Boston writers, as only they can, turned their back on Ramirez ...

Author argues that, "Ron Santo was a better
player than half the third basemen already in the
Hall of Fame. He was the best third baseman of his era, and he was one of the five best position players."
LDS = League Dismal Series
I will admit it, after the first two games of all four LDS I was rooting for the team down two games to none. And I was, and will be, rooting for the teams down two games to one. I’m sorry Red Sox Nation, I didn’t say I’m not rooting for the Sox to carry on, I am ...
