Pitchers Garrett Olson and Dennis Safarte have been removed from the per Dave Trembley’s pregame show. Both will be moved to the bullpen for the time being, a minor league assignment is not out of the question for Olson.
Olson has seemed to be visibly uncomfortable on the mound after being roughed up his last few starts. A stint in the minors may do him good.

Never did I expect Melvin Mora on August 17th to have 20 home runs with 91 RBI with a .286 average. I thought the guy was on his last legs, and may want to think about becoming a part-time player.
Furthermore, I thought my eyes were deceiving me when I saw his numbers after the game.
Boy, we’re we all wrong about Melvin. Just to think in July, we wanted this guy run out of town.

The Orioles and first-round pick Brian Matusz have agreed to terms on a major league deal that would immediately insert him onto the club’s 40-man roster and toward the top of the organization’s list of pitching prospects.
This is a huge deal as Matusz just jumped near the top of the Orioles depth chart. More to come later.
