Complete game, shutout, three-hitter for Santana. Jeff Karstens had his worst Pirate outing--not exactly terrible, though--6 innings and 4 runs. With this offense sputtering, Santana was not a great guy to run into. The Mets are hot and the Bucs have lost 4 straight. Mets go for a 4-game sweep tomorrow.

Zach Duke was destroyed. - The Pirate offense was weak, again. Andy LaRoche hit a solo shot and a mini-rally emerged in the ninth, but the Bucs just got 3 of the 6 they needed. - There really isn't much more to say. 13 games under .500 now. Things are bright for the future, but they aren't very bright at the moment.

Jason Davis gave up two in the first and that proved to be the difference. The only Pirate run came on Jack Wilson's first homer all season.
