Two down and what have we learned?

OK, it is August and football is here again. I purposely did not comment on the 1st preseason game because I wanted to wait until after the second. The first two preseason games to me are the view into the future. This year with the QB battle going on, these first two games were an audition of sorts. The fourth game in preseason will no doubt see the starters on the sideline drinking ...

Wondering how this years Ravens will do?

There are different camps in accessing how well this years Ravens will be. One has them thinking that they are closer to the 13-3 record of two years ago then the 5-11 season of a year ago. Then there are those who believe last season’s ineptitude will be repeated, another losing year despite the effort. There are reasons to take either side, but unless you are a clairvoyant then your ...

Ravens Patriots Recap

You can look at the game against the Patriots as a win, but it doesn’t amount to a whole lot. This is the pre season and the wins and losses don’t count in anyones standings. The main objective here is to sort out the talent on the team, and in that regard there was something to build off of. Some of it was and good, and some not so good. Here’s my take on the good and the ...

Things to look for when the Ravens meet the Patriots

This being the first pre-season game means that all of us can’t get our hopes up too high. That can be hard to do, I know. I’ll be trying to temper mine. Here are some of the things that I’ll be looking at, and if you have any others that I don’t cover please chime in and let them be known… (more…)

Kyle Boller to start at New England

Coach John Harbaugh announced today that Kyle Boller will indeed start the first preseason games against the New England Patriots. Boller will most likely lead the charge in the unveiling of Cam Cameron’s offense for the first half, with Troy Smith and Joe Flacco splitting the second half. (more…)

Ray Rice is showing he’s for real

So far during this training camp Ray Rice has looked spectacular. He’s been the only healthy running back for much of camp and has made the best of his opportunity. Taking him as a second round pick appears to have been a wise choice, he’s playing like he was in the top 5 overall. This kid is going to make this team, no doubt about it. But what I think he’ll do is make ...

Kid having his kicks at Baltimore Ravens training camp

There is one position battle brewing at Camp Hardball that may surprise some. Like I said in a previous blog, I get the feel that no player is guaranteed a spot on this roster. I still feel that. I do feel that there are certain players that would have to do really really bad in order to not start or even be cut. But one particular battle going on is interesting to say the least.  ...

Baltimore Ravens: Shopping at Tackles ‘R Us

As the Baltimore Ravens start looking for free agent tackles, the talk has already started. I had the comment said to me today “Maybe Billick was right” (in reference to camp cream-puff). It does seem that there have been a higher number of injuries during the first week of camp, but I do not take that to mean John Harbaugh is doing it the wrong way. (more…)

Ravens News and Notes

There were a few surprising things that happened at training camp this morning, and some defy common sense. This is supposed to be a new start for this team , but apparently there are a few who have chosen not to subscribe to that philosophy. It makes me wonder. (more…)
