In the 5th inning of last night’s Boston
Red Sox versus Seattle Mariners game, Jason Varitek crushed
a ball from Felix Hernandez to deep center field. Initially, it looked as though the ball was going out of the ballpark but as Ichiro tracked the ball down, you could tell it wasn’t going to leave the ballpark.
With the security around Barry Bonds as he
gets closer to breaking Hank Aaron’s record, last night’s
episode of a fan coming on the field to greet Bonds just shows you that the security isn’t as tight as it should be.
Is there something going on between Manny and
Julian Tavarez we don’t know about? Go to the
blog entry to see the video! Share This
Just saw this on Extra Bases. The Red
Sox have called up Jon Lester to start tomorrow’s
game against the Cleveland Indians. Julian Tavarez will go to the bullpen. The Red Sox will make a roster move after the game and the speculation is Javier Lopez will be sent back to Pawtucket after the game since he has minor league options left.
This night at Fenway Park just continues to
get stranger and stranger for the Boston Red Sox.
Between the 4th and 5th inning, Kevin Youkilis and Manny Ramirez had to be restrained from each other in the Red Sox dugout. No one is sure what happened, but you can check it out for yourself below.
Today marks a historic occasion in Major League
Baseball. It is the first time that seven 40-something
years old pitchers will take the mound. Roger Clemens, Kenny Rogers, John Smoltz, Jaime Moyer, Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, and Woody Williams will all take the hill for their respective clubs tonight.
Do you think your call of Manny’s dramatic
walk-off home run would be better than what you
heard on TBS last night?
14-year old Ryan Boatwright, from Illinois, accepted a
scholarship offer from USC coach Tim Floyd over the
weekend to play basketball. This is actually the second commitment from a 14 year old that USC has gotten in the past two years.
How bad are things in Cleveland when you
have to flip a coin to decide who your
starting QB will be for your first preseason game? Actually right now the race between Charlie Frye and Derek Anderson is too close to call right now, so head coach Romeo Crennel decided a coin flip was the best way to settle it.
Former Major League closer Rod Beck has passed
away today at the age of 38 in Phoenix.
The cause of death is not known at this time.

If I were the GM or manager of
the Boston Red Sox these are the guys I’d
take for the American League Division Series. Factoring that everyone is healthy here is my 25-man roster:
I think it’s safe to say that not
only will Tom Brady join the other great quarterbacks
in Canton when his playing days are done, but he is putting in a claim for the best ever to play the position. If he were to quarterback another Super Bowl winning team I think the argument is no longer who is better Peyton Manning or Brady but who is the greatest Brady or Joe Montana.
In what looked like it may have been
a big hitting day, actually turned into a day
where the pitching took center stage as Curt Schilling and Joe Blanton battled head to head. But even then it was one man who commanded the spotlight. The old man, the weathered ace working on the last year of a four year deal in which he brought Red Sox Nation a World Series championship, nearly got something ...
During today’s Phillies-Rockies game in the 7th inning,
it started to rain so the grounds crew came
out to put the tarp on the field. Things were going smooth until the wind came. I’ll let the video do the rest of the talking.
With the Mets 8-3 win over the Chicago
Cubs on Sunday night, Tom Glavine joined the exclusive
club of 300 wins by a pitcher in their careers. With the win, he becomes the 23rd pitcher to do so. This was Glavine’s second chance at 300 wins as the Mets bullpen blew the game in his last start.
With Alex Rodriguez and the New York Yankees
coming to town this weekend, we all know that
the Boston Red Sox faithful are going to be all over him for his alleged relationship with Madonna.
The Red Sox got 7 spectacular innings from
Daisuke Matsuzaka and a homerun into the Monster seats
by Manny was all they needed as the Sox defeated the Giants 1-0. There wasn’t really that much offense in the game as the Sox managed only 5 hits, matching Dustin Pedroia’s total from last night and the Giants had 4 hits.
Tom Brady rallies the New England Patriots past
the Indianapolis Colts, 24-20. The Patriots are the NFL's
last unbeaten team and stand at 9-0 going into the bye week.
Now that the NFL has caved in and
will simulcast the Patriots-Giants game on the NFL Network
with CBS and NBC other networks out there are pretty pissed they weren’t let in on it as well. Several other cable networks have petitioned Commissioner Goodell to allow them to get in on the simulcast but with their own announcing teams.
After seeing the latest episode of “Manny Being
Manny”, the geniuses at ESPN (wow did I just
say that) thought it would be an appropriate time to revisit the top 10 past episodes of “Manny Being Manny” including today’s. Here is the video goodness of that from Baseball Tonight.
