 Team Leaving
Team Leaving
Well, it appears that $75 million is the magic number. The City of Seattle accepted a cash payout of $75 million from the PBC to allow the Sonics to leave their home of 41 years and move to Oklahoma City. That amount may or may not be repaid by Clay Bennett, et al if the city were to receive another team in the Sonics' stead. As you would imagine, more to come.

 Anatomy of a Feud
Anatomy of a Feud
The Kobe Bryant-Ray Allen subplot to the Finals is beginning to get a bit of attention from the national media, but still not as much as I might have expected, given the lengthy delay between the conference finals and the championship series. For ...

 Sonics: We're Number 2!
Sonics: We're Number 2!
Sonics fans react to getting the second spot in the lottery, aka, the Kevin Durant sweepstakes. The best stuff is in the comments: "i'm a grown a-- man, and i can't wait to get my durant jersey."

Nick Collison: King Bad-ass for a Day
Nick Collison: King Bad-ass for a Day
Who says Nick Collison is soft around the rim? During practice with the Select Team on Saturday, "Crusher" Collison let loose a dunk straight from Lovetron , bringing down the rim, and some of his teammates. "I was hoping coach would say, 'Hey, ...

Durant Shines; Sonics Lose
Man, that's a headline I'm not looking forward to this season, but it's one that I think we can expect to see about as often as "Rain Expected This Weekend" for Seattle in November. Kevin Durant poured in 32 points in his best effort of the Summer League, Jeff Green tossed in 15 of his own ... and the rest of the roster added 27 points. Ugh. The Sonics were much-improved on the offensive glass ...

Paranoid Bennett hounded by "disturbing fringe elements"
Just when you thought things couldn't get any weirder in Sonicsville . . . Yesterday, the American Arbitration Association ruled that any arbitration hearings would be held in Seattle instead of Denver , as the Sonics had requested. Hooray for us! ...

And with that, he was gone. Rashard Lewis, having spent the first nine years of his career in Seattle, growing from a gangly high-schooler who only scored 47 points his rookie season to an All-Star small forward who became the most coveted free agent ...

Durant gets 18; Sonics lose Start the Michael Jordan comparisons, because if by classic MJ you mean a guy who's going to put up 20 shots to score 20 points, that's what you saw in Las Vegas tonight. Kevin Durant looked fantastic at times in a 77-66 ...

Win, Trade, Petition
For a summer following a 31-win season, it’s been pretty active in Sonicland. As Paul mentioned earlier, Johan Petro and Mo Sene decided to put in their annual “Tempt Us With Your Potential” display yesterday in SLC. But that effort takes a ...

 Team USA Selections Collision
Team USA Selections Collision
've gone from being baffled to understanding this process to being utterly baffled (again) in the span of a week and half. It started out with me thinking Nick Collison was on the Select Team that will scrimmage Team USA in the run-up to the FIBA tournament in Las Vegas. Then, I thought he was going to be a member of the Team USA because, well, it was reported at ESPN and everywhere else ...

Somme - Perspective on War and Basketball
"It's difficult for civilians to appreciate the horrors of war, even moreso when those horrors occured nearly 100 years ago. Just as most of us can't fathom the work that goes into being a professional athlete, for those who haven't seen a gun aimed at them, or seen a man with half of his body blown off, it is impossible to comprehend what a soldier goes through."
