From deep inside the tears that I’m forced to cry
From deep inside the pain that I chose to hide

Wandy gave up 5 walks, 3 hits, 3 R/2 ER. He was nibbling, like he used to do when he first came up. When he threw real actual strikes, only 4 were hit out of the infield - one went for a double off the wall, one was a sac-fly and the other 2 were caught at the CF ...

On a day when Berkman and Wiggy did nothing, The Maligned Michael Bourn came through with a 2 run triple in the second to tie up the game and Geoff Blum hit a 3 run homer in the 6th to win it.
Moehler really didn’t have much - in the first, even the outs were hit a long ways. With Durham on first, Hardy hit a ball to the warning track in right that Pence somehow didn’t really ...

Randy Wolf managed to last 4 innings - actually, he did well until the 4th - walked the Prince, gave up a single up the middle to Hart. Then Hall flew out to Erstad. The runners advanced and Hart made a spectacular slide around Loretta to reach second - it looked as if it SHOULD have been an easy second out. Great heads-up baserunning doesn’t earn any accolades, nor does it have any ...

Well, I was hoping against hope that on his Number Retirement Day, that Biggio would confess the truth to the world - that he isn’t 5′11″ any more than Freddie Patek. You know, encourage vertically challenged athletes who are too tall to be gymnasts and not graceful enough to be skaters. (By the way, you can watch it on the official Astros MLB website.)
However, Roy about ...

Yeah, I coulda mentioned that this is the second time in 3 starts that Brandon Backe has given up 11 ER. Or that he gave up TWO grand slams (why on EARTH did Coop leave him in at 119 pitches with bases loaded to face Young after he had just walked Drew????) Oh yeah - and 5 walks.
And all yall were complaining about Wandy yesterday - he just gave up 2 squiggly hits, no homers and a billion ...

As usual, Brandon Webb crushed the Astros. The only 2 Astros who have ever hit Webb well, Loretta and Matsui, didn’t play tonight - Matsui’s back is still hurting and Loretta is a righty and seeing as how Webb is also a righty, Cooper made him sit in favor of a lefty.
Wiggy tonight became only the second man in an Astros uni to hit a homer off of Webb - Biggio is the other one ...

This year, the Astros have already signed most of their picks and of the top 10, only Chase Davidson (#3) remains - guess he wants a lil more to sweeten the pot so as he won’t go off to college.
Anyway, here are the picks who are on a minor league roster as of 8 AM, August 15, 2008 (which means some guys might could have signed but not reported) and their stats so far. Note that the ...

Brownie and JD kept repeating it - it is the first time in 38 YEARS that the Astros swept a 4 game series with the Giants. And of course those original Giants had Bobby Bonds, Willie Mays and Willie McCovey whereas these Giants have Fred Lewis and Randy Winn and, um, er, I forget their names. And their bullpen is most definitely teh sukc. Whatever move Bochy made, it turned out badly, ...

For 5 innings, Barry Zito was almost untouchable - the Astros managed 2 measly singles and a ROE. Somehow, Randy Wolf matched him, not giving up a hit or walk until the 5th.
One of those games in which you just can’t really believe that 2 lousy pitchers are keeping the other team offn the bases. You’d think a pitcher’s duel would be more exciting, but this game seemed to ...

Zito has had yet another bad year, but I bet he’s really looking forward to facing us - he’s thrown 2 games against the Astros: last year, he went 7 innings, giving up 4 hits and 1 run; this year, he gave up 7 hits, 3 runs over 6 IP - one of his few good outings. Why the Giants won’t hire Rick Peterson to straighten him out, I do NOT get. Heck, why ZITO doesn’t fork ...

What a game!!!!!! The psychobilly Cadillac chugs on using spare parts…
Let’s just say Roy wasn’t exactly at his best. He had a terrible time putting hitters away after getting 2 strikes. He went to too many 3-2 counts. He gave up 10 hits, a HBP, 3 walks and struck out only 4. He managed to strand 10 of em, don’t ask me how. It’s a guy getting through 7 innings ...

Lincecum was the 10th pick in the 2006 draft - no question, the best pitcher in the entire draft, but he’s only (snicker) 5′11″ (hahahahahahahaha) and as we all know short guys, like his opponent Oswalt (who is - snicker - 6′ tall) can’t pitch. This year, lil dude is 12-3 in 23 GS (19 QS) and 1 in relief: 157.8 IP (almost 7 IP/GS) - 136 H, 9 HR, 58 BB, 175 K: ...

Of course you know I had sulking kidsss who were all Up Set that they didn’t get to go with Mami and Daddy for the weekend - SOMEbody (yeah, Grandaddy, I’m lookin at YOU) let it slip that we were in Galveston and the twins are their daddy’s kids and they love the water just as much as he does. So I had to deal all day with the consequences of kids being spoilt rotten all ...

It was a great weekend. Well, yeah, for the Astros, too. Mostly. But I meant for Husband and me who needed a few days to ourselves and I kept my promise (barely) about no baseball. Got home this morning after driving husband to work (traffic is *(%*#%! on the Gulf Freeway) and my daddy, who had been helping Big Brother look after kidssss, Dogsss and house all weekend looked like a man dying ...

Actually, it’s really only 3.2, but he came in with 1 out in the 4th after Backe gave up a walk, single, FO, walk, single to load the bases. Byrdak gave up 1 sac-fly which scored the run because DLee runs fast, and a lazy FB. He then pitched 3 more innings, striking out 4 and giving up only a double in one inning and a single in another and NO walks.
OK Coop,
is it possible that ...

It was bound to happen. This business of using one pitcher to get one out, then changing him for another pitcher is really wasting pitchers and unnecessarily tiring them out.
But pitching problems started with Wandy’s difficulty in locating in the first - a 4 pitch walk to The Riot, then a double to DLee in the LF corner (and good play by Clank getting the throw in to hold Riot at ...

Well, looks as if Tropical Storm Eduardo is going to hit Galveston sometime tomorrow afternoon. So I’ve spent all day getting us ready. For WHAT??? yall might could ask? Well, it’s not exactly like Rita 3 years ago (click to read our adventures) but it might could be like Allison in June of 01, which caused massive serious flooding in areas that usually didn’t have problems, ...

Wonder if the Mets will regret not getting Barry Lamar Bonds to play left…
Let alone not doing anything to beef up their lineup or bullpen at the deadline…
Anyway, Randy Wolf got through 5 innings, 98 pitches (55 strikes, 43 balls), 6 hits, 1 HBP and 3 walks with 7 K. He had at least 2 runners on base in every inning except the second. I don’t know how he didn’t ...

oy feels Santana’s pain, he surely does. Santana pitched well enough to win, giving up 3 hits, 2 HBP and 2 walks over 6.1 IP - and 3 Ks. And the only well hit ball was a smash to deep left center juuuuuuuust off the glove of a diving Jackal. hehhehheh. And yeh, I DID love him missing Lance’s drive to the Hill last night. hehhehheh.but I digress…
Johan left the game in the ...

It was the Return Of Home Run Field, and Brandon hit one out, his second of the year, and didn’t give any up. He gave up 10 hits - 9 singles, including 4 infield hits that weren’t fielded and 3 walks. - 3 ER over 6 IP.
Not bad.
Pedro Martinez was certainly not the old Pedro - gave up 5 hits, 3 solo homers and 2 walks - 3 ER. He’s a whole different pitcher - not much ...
