... gets another ring, after chalking up his 300th save in August. Adam Kennedy never made it to the bigs with the Rays, retiring after not even being considered for a September call-up. Joe Maddon cements his status as an elite MLB manager, but still doesn’t have a contract for 2010 following Tampa’s Series triumph. Perhaps he’ll be managing somewhere else for the 2010 season??? ...
Top 100 Angels: Adam KENNEDY #24

... .280 Angels batting average in 3600+ Plate Appearances is 10th all time among Angels with more than 2000 plate appearances).
He ranks 20th all time in Franchise Win Shares with 93 regular season win shares. He ranked 24th in our Post-2005 Top 100 Angels tabulation.
His 3 bombs in the clinching 2002 ALCS game were easily one of the most glorious moments in Angels history, helping to wipe decades of postseason misery away with three sweet uppercuts.

... Former Angel Adam Kennedy has been reunited with former Angel coach Joe Maddon, signing a minor league contract with the Tampa Rays. [h/t MLB Trade Rumors].
In Kennedy, the Rays pick up a good clubhouse guy (yes, we’re giving AK the benefit of the doubt; Tony LaRussa hates everybody), one of the game’s best defensive second basemen, and a decent left-handed bat off the bench. At the price, it’s a no-brainer for the Rays.

Cardinals Waive Adam Kennedy

... Adam Kennedy. I really didn't think his deal was a good idea at the time for the Cards, and while he bounced back in 2008 from an abysmal 2007, it seems the Cards aren't interested in keeping a guy who can probably be pretty cheaply replaced, and is likely to have significant injury problems going forward.

He had a 27 1/3 scoreless inning streak in 1964 and after another solid year in 1966 was dealt to the NL Champion Dodgers and faded out. He was from Ottumwa Iowa, which is also the home of Radar O'Reilly. Sadly I didn't have to look that up. 61 days left ’til Opening Day
Published 1/30/2008 by Gilbert at Obscure Sports Quarterly
... There are 61 days left until that best day of the year, MLB Opening Day.
61 is also the number of hits Adam Kennedy got in 2007, his lowest total since his rookie season.
Of course, Kennedy will always be remembered by Angels fans for his three homers in Game 5 of the 2002 ALCS, which helped the Halos win the game and clinch their first and only World Series berth in franchise history.
Kennedy had to be the least likely Angel to hit three homers that day, since he had hit only seven dingers all year ...
