Controversial Footballers #3 Samuel Eto’o
Published 3 days ago by Rob at Champions League
As part of our occasional series on divisive footballers (See previous entries Here and Here) we turn to Barcelona (for the time being) striker Samuel Eto’o.
The main inspiration for his inclusion is that while many footballers, who on the face of it would seem unavaliable are being stalked for months (Kaka’, Ronaldo, Lampard, Even Gareth Barry) Eto’o, who is being kicked out the door at Barca doesn’t appear to be wanted by anyone. Except for in Uzbekistan

... scheme. The Special One tends to favor a team that’s built around a creative attacking central midfielder (see Deco at Porto and Lampard at Chelsea) as well as a strong central defense (see Ricardo Carvalho at both clubs). For these reasons, I’m not 100% sure that Inter’s the best bet for Ricky Q. I can’t wait to see the pouting he’s going to be doing on the sidelines if he doesn’t get the burn he thinks he deserves. Anyone remember the Barcelona experiment? ...

... opinion, was teetering on the verge of inking a long-term deal with PSG, for some unknown reason the club decided to pinch a few Euros and fell-short of Rennais €8 m rating.
From a management perspective I suppose PSG’s original bargaining position simply could be said to be foolish and one that didn’t quite recognize his talents or even how sought after he is. With the young French International reputedly garnering interest from luminaries such as Juventus, Barcelona and Arsenal, the clock is ticking and I suspect once Raymond Domenech comes to ...

... grew a scruffy beard, would he also look like Juninho? At €15m , Ederson is Lyon’s third most expensive signing (he’s tied with Fred ) ever. The price is well worth it when you factor in his talent and his experience. I also have to wonder, given that Lyon paid an extra €3m for Ederson than what his release clause stipulated (€12m), if Aulas negotiated a first refusal option for another Nice player who may or may not be called Hugo Lloris… Marc Crosas - 6 month loan from Barcelona Crosas is a Barcelona youth product who was unable to find playing time with his club, so ...

Aston Villa: year two preview*

... Aston Villa is arguably the best professional football team associated with Cleveland. For the time being the Browns, while #1 in our hearts, are #2 in the list of best professional Cleveland football teams. Last season the Soccer Spot provided outstanding coverage of all things Aston Villa. He’s moved on to greener pastures as far as soccer blogging is concerned — he’s now your guy for all things FC Barcelona over at The Offside — but he’s still willing to slum it with us from time to time.
