... Pittsburgh Pirates - Neal Huntington has this team headed in the right direction, but the time is not now. If there is a higher power, one can only hope he/she sees fit to give Pittsburgh a Pirates team worthy of their beautiful ballpark and long-suffering fans. Perhaps they should give Barry Bonds’ agent a call? You know, for old times? Chalk up the Bucs for about 68 wins. ...

... though differently. Silver told me that, "height is more important for pitchers, while weight is more important for hitters." There are obviously accuracy issues, but there is an internal consistency. Other systems vary in their use of player size. Dan Symborski's ZIPS system doesn't use height and weight information, in large part because of accuracy. He also points out that players often change over the course of their career, making us wonder exactly when Barry Bonds ' weight on BaseballReference.com was accurate. It's worse with Kirby Puckett . What count matters most?

... concern three ball counts (because it skyrockets on-base average). In 2008, batters had just a .621 OPS (68 OPS+) after a 2-2 count. It rose significantly (to 1.075, or 194 OPS+) after a 3-1 count. That 2-1 pitch is huge. It allows the pitcher to either get even (and on 2 strikes, makes the batter protect the plate), or give the hitter a huge advantage because 3 balls is just one pitch from being walked. So in terms of equivalency, they turn from Joey Gathright into Barry Bonds.
But an even larger difference occurs on a 2-0 pitch. A strike (2-1) causes ...

Brian was also a player rep from 1998 to at least 2003. He attended Players Association meetings and heard people talk, all different people. What did they say, Jimmy? We, your readers and biggest fans, need to know! Um, I can't tell you everything. Because I got the one phrase reporters must hate to hear, as much as they love to hear:"This part's off the record." He’ll compare his former teammates Bonds and Alex Rodriguez and go into a detailed analysis of each, then discuss their steroidal activities. Then he’ll discuss the stigma the two always played under while he didn’t play under any stigma since he played clean. “Nope, we didn’t talk about it much, me and the other players. That was a media thing. We just wanted to play baseball.” ...

Alex Rodriguez has been outed, now, what other names do you think may be featured in the 2003 results (there are 104 in total)? I don’t consider this to be inappropriate speculation, instead, I think it’s only fair for us to wonder about who the other names are since they have yet to be released. If one guy’s name is released, release them all, right? Here are a few players that I think could be on the list.
1. Barry Bonds
2. Bret Boone
3. Jason Giambi

Furcal’s second DUI in the city that I live really soured me. At the time, I wanted the Braves to suspend him for the season. I don’t think he even got the night off. I find it amazing that Barry Bonds can’t find a job because of his association with performance-enhancing drugs, yet you don’t even see Furcal’s drunk driving issues mentioned.
