If you head to that link, you will have more up to date access to my blogs at Baseball Digest Daily. Or, you can click here. And now pinch hitting….
Published 18 days ago by TD at Rain Delay
Well kids, I’m headed off to the Oregon Coast again this weekend. What can I say, I didn’t get everything done last weekend that I wanted to do and I just love the coast. This time, instead of trying to post on the road I’ve been able to con my good pal Geoff Young of Ducksnorts and Baseball Digest Daily fame to come in and pinch hit for me this weekend.
I shall return Sunday evening. In the meantime enjoy the poetic styling’s of Geoff Young.

The Opposing Viewpoint: San Diego Padres

... baseball sites ), explores some of the reasons why and tells us what he hopes to see the team do in order to build for the future. Last year, San Diego’s offense performed quite well away from Petco (the Padres were one of only four NL teams to score more than five runs per game on the road). This year, there’s little difference between the offense’s home and road performance, and when the home games are at baseball’s most pitcher-friendly park, that’s a bad thing. Why is this year’s team failing where its predecessor succeeded? I’ve been asking myself the same question for ...

... and Baseball Digest Daily and doing whatever it is people do on a daily basis. Read on for a discussion of the Hall of Fame (whatever happened to it?), Larry Wayne Jones and his quest for .400, and Omar Vizquel. Question #1: Is Omar Vizquel’s defense enough to get him into the Hall of Fame? Voros McCracken: I just don’t know on Omar. His comps (Vizquel OPS+ = 84) are simple to point to: Maranville (OPS+ 82), Ozzie Smith (87) and Luis Aparicio (82). All four were great defenders, but simply ‘great’ undersells Smith and Maranville. Ozzie and Rabbit were seen as once in a ...
