... Feller won 107 games (against just 54 losses, good for the third best winning percentage among under 22’s with at least 500 innings pitched). Feller won 76 games at ages 20-22, which is more than 20 ahead of any other similarly aged post-WWI pitcher. Among the top ten in wins for the group, early success portended future results. Four of the pitchers would eventually head to the Hall of Fame—Feller, Chief Bender , Christy Mathewson and Walter Johnson —and Bert Blyleven deserves to join them. (A fifth, Babe Ruth , would also have a Hall of ...

Curt Schilling: Hall of Famer?

... . He is also not as dominant at his best as Schilling. As for Fuck Bert Blyleven, He has a better case than Moose. He has a Cherry. Not as big as Schilling’s but it is there. But at his most dominant, he is not as dominant as Schilling. To be fair, he dominance is longer than Curt’s but he definitely dropped some “clunkers” in there as well. I think Bert has a good case though. Plus, he has that porn beard. So after way too many words, I am going to say Curt Schilling is a Hall of Famer. ...

... about how Schilling has evolved from an outsider to a HOF lock in his book. FanGraphs Baseball also calls for Schilling’s enshrinement. I’m not here to say that Schilling doesn’t belong, but I would like to say this: If you put Curt Schilling into the Hall of Fame, you better move him to the back of the damn line. Because there is no way you can put Schilling into the Hall without first recognizing the accomplishments of Jack Morris and Bert Blyleven. (And I’m not even a Twins fan.) Here’s a look at ...

... Former Angel Bert Blyleven is apparently writing some for NBC Sports.  In that capacity, he’s picked the Angels to win the AL pennant.  Bert was always known for his big curveball, and defying baseball’s experts by picking the Angels to win the AL could easily be construed as a curve of sorts. Blyleven likes the Angels’ strong pitching staff, stable defense, “productive enough offense,” and the fact that they are “so fundamentally sound.” You could say that Bert’s still ...

I decided not to put him at a position because the Pirates can't seem to be able to figure out where to play him. He's been a third baseman, a second baseman and even played a little shortstop. All I know is he has more value than Scott Sauerbeck. You were right, Hench. THE STARTING ROTATION BERT BLYLEVEN I've already made my case clear for Bert Blyleven and why he should be in ...

A Curt Look at a Hall of Fame Career
Published 1/29/2009 by Joe Lederer at Baseball Analysts
... Hmm…let's review. Lots of strikeouts to go along with very solid numbers across the board, unfairly not enough All-Star appearances or Cy Young Awards to please the over-the-hill (or is it under-the-bridge?) Baseball Writers Association of America, an outstanding postseason record, possibly abrasive personality…Geez, does that at all sound familiar? Rice's highs were a bit higher, but Dawson was arguably more consistent over his career. Why is Rice significantly outpolling Dawson here? Could it be that Dawson's years toiling away in Montreal make a difference? Or could it be that THE FUCKING HALL OF FAME VOTERS DON'T BOTHER TO DO THEIR HOMEWORK?????? /fume Bert Be Home Blyleven -- 338 (62.7%) Sigh. Please, just look at the numbers . My Hall of Fame Vote

The Hall of Fame voting results are going to be announced on Monday and it's expected that Rickey Henderson and possibly Jim Rice will get in. I'm gonna separate my votes into two different ballots, because I can, and I because I don't take this stuff too seriously. My "Keeping the Hall of Fame Standards At the Highest Levels" Ballot Rickey Henderson, Bert Blyleven, Tim Raines Rickey's a no-brainer and it helps that his rookie card was the prized possession of my rather pathetic baseball card ...

Then there are a bunch of guys on the bubble, and we all have fond memories of them (or not so fond depending on which team you rooted for). They are our heroes of the 70s, 80s and early 90s, an era with numbers quite different than what we've seen recently. We have: Jim Rice , in his final year of eligibility Bert Blyleven , always the subject of HoF debate Andre Dawson , who seems destined to be the ...

Blyleven was 5-1 in 5 post season series with a 2.47 ERA. That's a run lower than Mussina's post season ERA. And have I mentioned that Blyleven hasn't been voted into the Hall of Fame?
