... first...Nick and I talk about the National Championship game. If you thought the game was a snoozer, you were right. I fell asleep and watched about 15 minutes of the entire game. Wait, I watched about 3 minutes of actual game play. Nick watched a bit more, but with the game being out of hand so quickly, there were other things to do. Like sleep. I did catch One Shining Moment, which always delivers (Double Order!) > So congrats to the UNC Tar Heels. And to Ian Casselberry who won our Bracket Challenge and will be getting himself a $65 gift card ...

... good stuff, worth about 550 calories, depending on the ingredients. With the Tigers, Cabrera clocked in at 240 pounds. His lack of mobility led Jim Leyland to move Miggy from the hot corner to first base. Now there's certainly nothing wrong with a little girth, but this guy's weight fluctuates like the tide. Here's hoping he can put the arepas down and keep off the weight before he becomes the Venezuelan Prince Fielder. FOR MORE READING Bless You Boys Tiger Tales D-Town Baseball ...

... of signability. Many teams felt the Scott Boras client wanted too much of a signing bonus, so they passed much to the delight of Detroit. Since being given a $3.58 million dollar bonus, Porcello has been lighting up the minor league ranks. Last season, he had the lowest ERA (2.66) in the Florida State League at the age of 19. I never got the luxury of watching him play because I'm too young, but I was blessed to hear him announce games on UPN 50 with Al Kaline for the first decade of my life. I'll always remember coming home late from school, plopping down in front of the TV with my daily poptarts and watching the Tigers play after the latest Simpsons reruns. ... from his start Sunday. Fortunately, it’s nothing that would cause fans to get the shakes and crawl into a dark, dark place to hide. But any time your stud prospect is hurt, you cringe a bit at first. According to Jason Beck, Porcello cut his nail on his index finger during pitchers fielding practice and will be held back a few days. Of course, I was talking with Ian and brought up the possibility this is just the Tigers rearranging Porcello’s spot in the roster as April draws nearer, as well as taking away some of the “Porcello’s made the team!” ...
