MLB 2k9 Review
Published 3/18/2009 by Herija Green at RotoRob
Damn, is it possible that Prince Fielder looks slimmer even in MLB 2K9? Now, that’s impressive.
I have been playing America’s pasttime in video game form dating all the way back to “Baseball” on the original Nintendo Entertainment System. That gave way to RBI ...
How would you customize the Busch Stadium scoreboard?
Published 3/7/2009 by Pip at Fungoes
For the last couple of weeks, the United Cardinal Bloggers have been taking turns posing and replying to roundtable questions ranging from whether the team erred with Lohse’s contract to favorite non-Keith Hernandez mustaches. On our turn this week, we posed the following lighthearted yet, in our opinion, revealing question:
If you could customize the main scoreboard at Busch Stadium, what would you put on it and why? (e.g., specific different stats, minor-league news, pictures of player mustaches, etc.)
Following are the various responses from UCB members, whom we thank for their ...

As in the past, we have been allowed to show you the newest Wikio sports blog rankings exclusively before they get posted later this week. 3 Shades of Blue has managed to move up from #84 last month to #68 this month. ...
UCB Roundtable - A franchise player not named Albert
Published 2/24/2009 by Deaner (noreply@blogger.com) at Cardinal Nation Globe
There has been quite a bit of talk/anxiety concerning where Albert will be after his contract is up. He has said that he would like to stay in St. Louis for his entire career. On the other hand, he has expressed the desire to consistently win and after this off-season one has to wonder if the organization is willing to put up the dough to supply this on top of giving Albert proper compensation. ...

Tough Love: Toronto Blue Jays
Published 2/14/2009 by E. Spencer Kyte at The Love of Sports
We’re getting close to having pitchers and catchers report for Spring Training and being a Blue Jays fan, I can tell you that I am completely underwhelmed.
There are lots of people out there who will take offense to this piece, calling what I am about to say sour grapes or the whiny ramblings of a guy who expects too much from his team, but to them I say PFFFT!
I’ve been a Blue Jays fan for quite some time and have been paying close attention to them for the last couple years through my work at Bugs & Cranks - the best baseball site in the ...
10 Questions Edited From The Peter Gammons/A-Rod Interview
Published 2/10/2009 by Mark Townsend at Bugs & Cranks
As always we here at Bugs&Cranks go that extra mile (without the benefit of performance enhancing substances) to bring you as complete a story (or interview) as we possibly can.
The Peter Gammons/Alex Rodriguez interview that aired yesterday on ESPN is no different.
Thanks to the hard work of many within our offices, we were able to obtain a list of ten questions that were edited out of yesterday’s interview.
Unfortunately we were unable to recover A-Rod’s responses to these questions, but again, we do the best that we can.

Put On Your Speculatin' Caps...
Washington Post sports writer Chico Harlan took stock of the interest in free agent outfielder/first baseman Adam Dunn the other day in a Nationals Journal post entitled, "The Market For Adam Dunn", and essentially concluded that unless someone gets desperate after Manny Ramirez chooses a home, Adam Dunn is there to be had by DC, for a considerably lower cost than Dunn probably anticipated after becoming a free agent following an '08 season in which he hit for a .236 AVG with 23 doubles, 40 HR's and 100 RBI's in ...
Yankees introduce Teixeira, new p-whipped arch villain
Published 1/6/2009 by Cameron Martin at Comcast SportsNet New England » Wicked Good Sports
As Sox fans, we’re a little tired of hating on A-Rod, aren’t we? I think the bashing reached its peak when Sox fans donned those blond-haired masks two seasons ago, after news broke that A-Rod liked the she-male muscular type. After that, it’s been largely humorless, if only because the Yankees couldn’t even make the playoffs last year. I mean, A-Rod and Madonna? Only dating Cher could have made him less interesting.
Well, if hating on #13 has gotten a litte stale, enter Mark Teixeira, who jilted the Red Sox this offseason and joined the Yankees. How exactly did the Sox lose ...

I have reached the Finals of HHR's Iron Ref. After pulling off upsets in the first three rounds, it finally comes down to this. This week, I am up against Lady Andrea from Bugs and Cranks. The "secret ingredient" this week is "Winner Take All", which is a very appropriate topic for the Finals. Normally, this is the part where I would bash my opponent, but I feel as though I bad-mouthed Andrea enough last week...plus she has a law degree and I'm pretty sure she knows more about libel law than I do. Voting starts tomorrow morning on Hugging Harold Reynolds.

If I were the GM: Landon Evanson
Published 11/24/2008 by noreply@blogger.com (Ryan) at The Victoria Times
In our ongoing series, exploring what people would do if given control of their team for the offseason, I consulted Landon Evanson, the Twins writer at Bugs and Cranks and got his thoughts on the offseason. His words are below: Twins GM Bill Smith is in an interesting position as baseball's winter kicks into full-swing. On paper, the Twins aren't that far off -- perhaps just one player away from being the clear-cut favorite to win the American League Central next season. That said, wise decisions will only occur through long hours of deliberation because Minnesota has many options ...
Springtime For Lou Holtz ... ESPN, Double Standards And You [Waxing Off]
Published 10/24/2008 by Rick Chandler at Deadspin
Once upon a time, a site called The Black Table had a regular feature entitled Waxing Off, in which women gathered in an online roundtable to discuss issues of the day, and also to make fun of Will Leitch's shoes. And so we got to thinking: With so many great female sports bloggers out there, why not import the idea here? It's just crazy enough to work. So behold: The latest edition of Deadspin's Waxing Off. We found seven terrific female writers who were willing to pen short pieces on this week's topic: Lou Holtz and his Hitler comment. As you may have read, ESPN correspondent and noted lunatic ...
