This post focuses on one of the newer SBN blogs, and the first SBN-Baseball blog to be added in quite a while; Driveline Mechanics examines the mechanics of various pitchers throughout the majors and minors. A couple of days ago they took a look at the pitching mechanics of our top pitching prospect Tommy Hanson (hat tip: ...

... Driveline Mechanics is a pretty awesome blog.  My buddy Kyle runs it and he does these excellent pieces on pitching deliveries.  Today, with my suggestion, he broke down Trevor Cahill's delivery and arm action. ...

... 2008 Postseason Hub is an ideal landing spot for our coverage of this year's postseason action. All of the latest coverage from the remaining playoff teams can be found there, or directly at Over The Monster, DRays Bay, True Blue LA and The Good Phight. Believe it or not, a lot of folks don't realize that we've got a whole network of baseball blogs, including one each for every big league team, one for minor league content, one for scouting and one for statistics-mongering. Most of them are as good or better than this site, ...

Eveland can haz new mechanics?
Published 8/25/2008 by Graham Goldbeck (noreply@blogger.com) at Oaktown Awesomer's: An Oakland A's Blog
... Disclaimer: I know next to nothing about pitching mechanics. I am currently studying the Mike Marshall school of mechanics on the advice of Kyle Boddy of Driveline Mechanics (a very good site, I recommend checking it out). That said a few of Eveland's changes are pretty obvious so I thought I'd highlight them here. ...

... For those of you already familiar with Driveline Mechanics, you understand what a coup this is for SB Nation.  DM is an established site that scouts, um, MECHANICS, and they accurately advertise their site as one that takes "An Unconventional Look at Baseball Scouting" (as opposed to us, who simply know the difference between Ron Gardenhire and Colonel Sanders).  For those of you who haven't had the pleasure of reading DM, check out their series from this week on Matt Garza: ...

... I alluded to the SBN launch of Driveline Mechanics last week when discussing Max Scherzer, but apparently we can make it official now. While it's a fantastic blog, let's hope that we never see Rockies pitchers discussed over there, as it seems to be more often than not a bad thing if they're bringing somebody up. San Fran's freakboy Timmy was a noted exception, so sorry Matt Garza that you are not. ...

... Also on the mechanics tip, SB Nation has just added Driveline Mechanics to the roster, which is a nice coup. The statistical side of baseball has always had plenty of representation on the internet, so it’s awesome to see that the next wave is focused on the biomechanics of baseball, which is almost the final frontier for baseball nerds. Sure, you can prattle on about VORP and Win Shares to the guy sitting next you, but I promise he’s ignoring you. Really, he is. But once you start talking about reverse rotations and rushed arm action, that’s when you’ll ...

News: Period of Absence
Published 7/18/2008 by Kyle at Driveline Mechanics
Well, everyone, I am writing from my home computer for the last time in this apartment, as nearly everything else (except clothes) are packed for my move cross-town from Lake City to Ballard. My birthday is today (I’m 25), my bachelor party spans this weekend, and then I’m getting married on Thursday. Internet won’t be set up in my house until next Friday, during which time I will be in San Diego for my honeymoon, watching the Padres and Diamondbacks in addition to touring the San Diego Zoo and relaxing on the beach. So, in other words, don’t expect any substantive updates from me in the near ...

A mechanical breakdown
Published 4/15/2008 by Ben K. at River Avenue Blues» River Avenue Blues, A New York Yankees Blog
A few blog posts about the Yankees hurlers and their pitching mechanics have been making the rounds lately. Originating from a new site run by Kyle Boddy, a 24-year-old baseball analyst, called Driveline Mechanics, the two Yankee-related entries focus on Chien-Ming Wang and Joba Chamberlain. To ruin the endings, Boddy loves Wang’s mechanics but feels that Chamberlain’s put him at risk for injury. Boddy writes, “I think Joba’s injury concerns are well-founded. He has a lot of the classic signs of hyperabduction, rushing, hung arms syndrome, and a bad followthrough.” ...

Concern over Joba’s Mechanics?
Published 4/12/2008 by Brent Nycz at The Bronx Block
That’s what Kyle Buddy from Driveline Mechanics brings up in his post about Joba Chamberlain’s mechanics. Buddy speaks (and shows through pitches and GIF motion shots) about why Yankee fans should have some sense of worry about Joba’s future. To Buddy, the tension that Joba puts on his arm alongside showing signs of the dreaded “Inverted W” and/or the “Inverted L” and an awkward follow-through can potentially bring injury troubles. Whether you agree or disagree, Buddy brings up some interesting data to back up his claims. For comparison ...
