Cause Of Death...Over-Managing

... I know, I know, you are all saying, "Chill Metsfan73, it's only four games into the season..." True, but winning isn't only on the scoreboard and in the standings, but it is a frame of mind. Beltran and DelGado (enjoy drunkjaysfans.com ) have been lights out. Wright and Castillo need their bulbs replaced. This team still does not have that winning attitude. It will be up to the 25 on this roster to get in gear, and learning how to tear out their ...

... and planted into the right side of his head. Thankfully for Rios and the Jays, he’s alright and is expected to suit up this weekend. - Designated hitter Adam Lind opened up the season with a six-RBI game. Yesterday, he went 3-for-4 with a solo home run. He’s currently slated to bat fifth, but it would not surprise me if the jays opted to put him in front of Vernon Wells given the way that the Tribe pitching has been sub par. And yes, I’m being kind. Is Cito getting a free pass?
Published 4/2/2009 by Tao of Stieb (noreply@blogger.com) at The Tao of Stieb
... There's an interesting line of discussion going on in the comments over at the Drunk Jays Fans over the relatively light hand that has been used with Cito Gaston this spring. The Drunks' Dustin Parkes raised the notion that some of the statements that Cito has made publicly through the Spring - and all the way back to the Winter Meetings, if you recall - are a bit goofy (and that's being generous). But for some reason, no one seems to be nearly as quick to call him on it as they were with his predecessor. ...

My Fantasy Baseball Team Sucks!

RICKY ROMERO TIME...
Published 3/23/2009 by Dan The Man (mobbeh2004@yahoo.ca) at JOHN MCDONALD'S CABINET
DrunkJaysFans is so excited for Ricky Romero to pitch today against the Cincinnati Reds. As news broke of Matt Clement's dismissal, Jays fans around the universe wondered what next because it seemed as if Scott Richmond had done everything he could to secure a spot in the rotation, and with Casey Janssen obviously not going to start the season north of the border, the final rotation spot is now between Brad Mills, who has been mediocre as of late, and Ricky Romero, who under the tutlege of Brad Arnsberg has become a coach's favourite star ...

That bit about the best hitter batting 3rd goes against what 'The Book' says as noted in this post on Beyond the Boxscore. But then Dick Williams, Sparky Anderson and Whitey Herzog have won a lot of baseball games and all are in the Hall of Fame so I'll let someone else argue with them.

... This morning, one of my co-workers asked me if I thought Jermaine O'Neal and Jamario Moon might get booed on their return to Toronto tonight. The idea never even occurred to me, but apparently Jays fans have been known to boo returning ex-Jays at Rogers Centre under similar circumstances. I'm 100% positive that O'Neal and Moon will get a warm reception tonight. Apparently, as my Drunk Jays colleague admitted to me today, Raptors fans are actually more sophisticated and classy than Jays fans. This game is essentially meaningless for the Raptors but the Heat are 1 1/2 games ...
Obligatory Hockey Fighting Post

... Am I missing some key points? Oh probably-- but those are pretty much the basics, and they're just not very compelling. Honestly, at this point I couldn't give less of a shit whether fighting stays in hockey or not. But I do enjoy a solid argument (anyone who's ever read the comments over at Drunk Jays Fans undoubtedly knows this), and right now, the pro-fighting folks need to seriously get their shit together. And they should maybe find a few more people who aren't suffering from post-concussion syndrome, and don't think like a septuagenarians, to ...

Jays Fans Looking Forward To 2010

... wheat is left from the chaff removed by this coming season. Throw in the experience gained from a "regrouping" year for youngsters like Lind, Snider and Arencibia, and the future of the Jays doesn't look nearly as dim as the present seems to be.
Then again, I feel the same way about 2010, as I did about heading into 2006, 2007 and 2008. Hopefulness and the resulting disappointment. Such is the life of a Blue Jays fan.

Steve Phillips is a Little Slow on the Uptake
Published 2/5/2009 by Lloyd the Barber (noreply@blogger.com) at Ghostrunner on First
God bless the Four Letter. They've trotted out four of their baseball analysts in a vain attempt to accrue page views; the Fightin' Battle of the Killer Budgets! Each seamhead is saddled with a $40 million dollar budget for their team, which will compete in a simulated baseball tournament. The winner progresses to face the Yankees and their diamond encrusted twelve-sided die, which will once and for all settle the salary cap debate. The exercise obstensibly measures the writers' budgetary acumen and eye for talent, but really just serves as a platform to expose Steve Phillips as an idiot. Jayson ...
