Walkoff Walk Presents the BONILLA Projection System: Age 25

... Troy Tulowitzki, SS: I totally predicted Tulowitzki's sophomore slump, despite the fact that I made a pre-season fantasy baseball trade for him, giving up Scott Kazmir. Oh, and he did NOT win the Rookie of the Year award.
Ubaldo Jimenez, SP: Despite allowing over 100 walks in less than 200 innings pitched, this dude might challenge Aaron Cook for the role of ace in the Rockies rotation next year. Rich Lederer loves the kid.
Elijah Dukes, RF: He allegedly threatened to kill his ex-wife via text message. Elijah ...

... has homered in each of his first two major league games, the first San Francisco Giant player to do so. There could be a New York Giant player, but I can't check back to that era. The last major leaguer to start his career with home runs in his first two games was Elijah Dukes of Tampa Bay last season on April 2 and April 5, 2007. The last NL player to do it was ...
The Minor League Wrap

... Notes The Vero Beach Rays started off the season with an 8-3 victory over St. Lucie. That is approximately one more win than they had all of last season. Heath Rollins pitched 5 innings and allowed 2 runs in picking up the no-decision. Ryan Royster was 2-5. The Columbus Catfish dropped a 2-0 decision to Savannah despite a strong outing from Alex Cobb . He worked 5.2 innings and allowed only 1 ER. He struck out five and walked none. Glenn Gibson , who was acquired in the Elijah Dukes trade, will make his organizational debut tonight. Due to JZ entering into the ...

... Milledge still looks like a coming offensive star, but color me skeptical that the man is or ever will be a major league center fielder, given the troubles he had handling right field with the Mets. I suppose the Nats were unimpressed with Dukes' contributions in center last season to the game's worst defensive team. That said, the outfield will be the fun part of this team, as both of them try to tap their talents (recall that Dukes last year averaged 33 homers and 108 walks per 600 at bats, but did absolutely zero else, batting .190 with 3 doubles and 2 steals in 184 AB). ...
CRAP: Outfielders

... 332 476 CRAP 25 65 255 320 500 Pena's a bit of a wild card, though all the projections are similar -- the big difference is in their playing time estimate. What you see is what you get... low average, high power, lots of strikeouts, and an inability to hit the curve. I'll side with the "consistent playing time" camp for why he hasn't put it together, but that's definitely a fanboy defense. Still, at age 26, there's no reason he can't hit his career numbers (.259 .316 .472) or beyond. Elijah Dukes HR RBI AVE OBP SLG BJ 11 36 253 351 459 CHONE 10 36 254 350 428 Marcel 11 35 243 ...

... see what the new park looks like. My guess is it will be a hitters park (most new parks are), and that should add to this team’s struggles. Win Total Over/Under is 71.5 . I’ll go with the under. I know there is that old axiom in baseball that no matter the talent level, a team will win 60 games and lose 60 games, it is what they do with the remaining 42 that determines their fate. I think the Nats will go 5-37 in those games. Player most likely to have a Home Run Break Out Season: Elijah Dukes . Similar argument to my Delmon Young pick yesterday. Dukes is a significant ...
