The New England Shirt: The Most Overhyped Football Shirt Ever?
Published 3/24/2009 by admin at Twohundredpercent
... More intriguingly still, a second “leaked” picture appeared on a couple of blogs, including EPL Talk, this week, but were hastily taken down after requests from the publishers of FourFourTwo magazine, who apparently have first call on showing it in public. For the benefit of people that didn’t get to see it when it was available to see, it’s a plain white shirt with white collars, no unnecessary adornments and no trimmings. The England badge is embroidered and will have the name of each country that they play put ...

Searching for Meaning in Trophies

... League for a UEFA Cup. Finishing fourth just feels more meaningful. The club's treasurers would certainly agree. In the end, though, history will remember those who hoist the trophies. Finishing fourth ultimately leaves you with an empty trophy case. The metaphor couldn't be more apt.

... also be a dream move. Suffice it to say Joe could’ve rattled off the correctly pronounced names of his entire family, right down to his sixth cousins, and it wouldn’t have made the slightest difference. This was nothing more than an excuse for N’zogbia to force his way out. If I ran Newcastle I’d print out shirts that say “N’sombogbia” on the back and make him play out the year in the reserves. But I suppose that’s precisely why I’m not running a football club. [Video spotted on EPL Talk ] ...

... English-language webpages covering the Bundesliga are a rare sight. At least if you discount the ones that just feed news wire stories into their system. So it’s always great to stumble upon an ambitious new site - or blog in this case. Bundesliga Talk is an EPL Talk sister site and kept alive by Mark Moll, who has a passion for Bach, fried sausages and the Bundesliga. Quite a reputation to live up to, but what I have read so far is indeed very promising. ...

... Here’s a damning piece of info - of the top football blogs, more than half are owned / backed by corporations who have the financial wherewithal to sustain losses and low profits. These blogs recruit bloggers for their passion and pay them little (compared to what they would earn elsewhere in other jobs).
And the other half? Niche-leading fan-owned blogs (Arseblog, AVFC Blog), carving out their own niche (101 Great Goals) or run by online marketers (EPL Talk, Soccerlens). And none of these sites make the sort of money to make you drool ...
