The Best Fantasy Football Player And Sleeper: Seattle Seahawks
Published 47 hours ago by faketeams at FakeTeams: Front Page Posts
John Morgan of Field Gulls offers some fantasy tips on the Seattle Seahawks. I don't even know what sleeper means anymore. The guy autodraft ignores? Or the one where your buddy, wonderin' where Shaun Alexander went, never heard of? And is the best fantasy option the one who will score the most points or the one who is more valuable than their projected draft slot? Anyway, I'm tired and curmudgeonly. Don't mind me. How about then we look at Seattle's best and best sleeper with an eye to value over projected round. I can do that. ...

Culberson has looked good this preseason, and I think he'll make us forget all about Brandon Chillar, and, even more frightening at one time, prove the Rams front office folks right. NFL.com has their Rams season preview up. Our friend at Ramblin' Fan takes a look at it.   The Football Outsiders have a sneak peak at college football season, which starts in ernest this weekend. Vikings Lose Heath Farwell and Jayme Mitchell for the Season
Published 19 days ago by Gonzo at Daily Norseman: Front Page Posts
In what can generously be termed a severe blow to the Beloved Purple, Brad Childress informed everyone this afternoon that both LB Heath Farwell and DE Jayme Mitchell tore ACLs in Friday night's loss to Seattle and are done for the 2008 season. This is the third consecutive year that the Vikings have lost a linebacker in the pre-season opener with a torn ACL.  The same injury befell Chad Greenway in 2006 and Rufus Alexander in 2007.  Ironically, the Vikings had hoped that Greenway and Alexander would both make significant contributions to the Vikings' ...

Taking a stroll around the NFC West
Published 29 days ago by Fooch at Niners Nation: Front Page Posts
... The Seahawks big news (in my mind) is the signing of former 49er great Bryan Gilmore!  Really, what else needs to be said about that, right?  The Seahawks have some solid, if unsung receivers.  If former Super Bowl MVP Deion Branch can stay healthy they'll be even better.  Of course, can 35 year old Bobby Engram repeat his 94 reception season, 3 more than he had the previous 2 seasons combined? ...

A look into the run defenses of Buffalo's 2008 opponents

... uses yards allowed per game to rank defenses. But those numbers are obviously flawed because they take into account a team’s ability to keep its defense off the field. Using yards per game will also mean a team’s run defense numbers will be altered by a team’s pass defense. I like yards per attempt. I don’t think it gives you an exact number for how well a defense defended the run or pass, but it is the most accurate statistic out there. Week 1: Seattle – 3.9 yards per attempt, 2007 season Week 2: Jacksonville – 4.1 Week ...

Ultimate Chicago Bears Draft Scenario - Non RB, OL
Published 4/23/2008 by WCG at Windy City Gridiron: Front Page Posts
... This is the last of our draft scenarios and again I went out of this blog's readership to a WCG favorite, John Morgan, who is now running Field Gulls .  This scenario has two purposes. Firstly, again to get another outsider perspective, but more importantly show a draft where the Bears #14 pick was neither running back or offensive line. ...

With the 25th Pick in the MCM Mock Draft

....the Seattle Seahawks represented by DonFrancisco select.... Lawrence Jackson, DE, USC The Seahawks are a well coached, solid football team without a lot of immediate needs. However, some of the team is aging, and the team could go a lot of different directions with this pick. They could look to get depth for an OL that is not on the same level it was a few years ago. They could also look to add a little more depth and toughness to a defense that was not great last year by drafting a DT, DE, or Safety. With Sean Alexander being cut, they could ...

SB Nation's John Morgan interviews Notre Dame DT Trevor Laws
Published 4/22/2008 by River City Rage at Big Cat Country: Front Page Posts
... Fellow SB Nation blogger and Seahawks Fan John Morgan has a fantastic interview over at Field Gulls with Notre Dame Defensive Tackle Trevor Laws.   As you all know, I've got a serious "draft crush" for Laws, I would not bat an eye if the Jaguars selected him at 26.  I think he's has a better motor than Kentwan Balmer, and I think he'd be a great fit on our defense. Anyhow, the interview is very well done.  An excerpt ...

... SB Nation's own John Morgan, of Field Gulls fame, scored a nice interview with Notre Dame DT Trevor Laws. Here's a bit: JM: Watching tape I notice you frequently use a compact spin move, how did you develop that move? Can you describe any other pass rush moves you employ and in what situations they're most effective? TL: I have been using that move on and off for the last 4 years. This year it was my go-to move. I started to develop it with my old d line coach Greg Mattison. Other moves I use are bull, jab ...

Zorn's initial reaction to getting head coach interview: Ack, ack
Published 2/25/2008 by Skin Patrol <info@hogshaven.com> at Hogs Haven: Front Page Posts
... So now the imperative to beat Seattle grows. As much as I appreciate those bright fellows over at Field Gulls, the Seahawks have pooped the Redskins out of their last two playoff appearances. Now we combine that with the comparable indignity that they don't even think our head coach is worthy of being their offensive coordinator? Something needs to be done about that west coast (excepting their offenses; we'll need that). ...
